Susanne Wehmer – Hyperrealistic Oil Painting on Plexiglas
Born in Bad Urach (Germany) in 1973, she lives and works in Barcelona (Spain).Diploma in Fine Arts by the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. Master’s Degree in Creation of Videogames, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona.
Susanne Wehmer works at an international level with galleries such as Siboney (Santander, Spain), Ferrán Cano (Barcelona/Palma de Mallorca), or T40 (Düsseldorf). She participated with her hyperrealistic painting in Art Fairs such as ARCO (Madrid), Art Lisboa, Art Cologne, Art Karlsruhe, Miami Bridge Art Fair, Scoop New York and more.
Susanne Wehmer’s pictorial universe comes from our modern society’s contemporary daily environment. From this starting point she creates her own personal visions through computer graphics, photomontages or superpositions. She uses industrial supports like plexiglas or aluminium, but produces her paintings using the elaborate techniques of traditional realistic oil painting, obtaining through this process smooth and shiny surfaces.
“… ice cream balls, japanese commercials, plastics and vinyls, aircraft meals… and the sparkling images of the actual synthetic life make up the references which Susanne Wehmer traduces to painting. A devoted declaration of love to imaginary Internet worlds and modern exotic icons. You’ll have to see to believe.” (Joaquín Peña-Toro).
